The Fresno Pacific baseball team continued to tread water in Golden State Athletic Conference play, splitting a doubleheader with Cal Baptist. The visiting Sunbirds dropped game one 4-1 before coming back to take the nightcap 6-2. Case Rigby had a good day for the No. 9 Sunbirds (18-4, 10-4 GSAC), getting five total hits, including a 3-for-3 effort in game two.

The nationally ranked Lakewood High baseball team gave up 14 runs to Downey in a first-round game at the Redondo Tournament on Saturday. However, the Lancers never trailed, scoring 18 runs of their own to remained undefeated on the season at 10-0. Zach Alofaituli led Lakewood's 18-hit attack with a pair of three-run homers - one in a six-run first inning and the other in an eight-run fifth.

Bishop Amat High School won its fifth CIF Southern California girls Division III championship in seven years with a 56-54 win over Inglewood at USC's Galen Center on Saturday morning. The win avenged a 15-point loss to the Sentinels on Feb. 27 in the CIF-Southern Section Division 3AA semifinals. The Lancers play Northern California champion St. Mary's of Stockton in Saturday's CIF State championship game at Bakersfield's Rabobank Arena at 1:30 p.m..

The victory that felt so close just slipped through the fingers of the Woodcreek High boys basketball team Saturday night at Arco Arena. The Timberwolves had possession of the ball, up one, with 15 seconds to go, but before they could celebrate a Northern California Division II basketball championship, St. Francis found a way to score the game-winner at the buzzer. Woodcreek came up on the short end of a 48-47 decision as its season came to an end one game short of a state title game.

The Lancers scored three unanswered power-play goals in the second period to beat Sioux Falls 5-2 Saturday night at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. Omaha took a 1-0 lead just over two minutes into the game when Seth Ambroz got free on the right wing knocking home his 22nd goal of the season. It was 2-0 2:22 later when Stefan Demopoulos won a goal line scramble and backhanded in his ninth goal of the year.

Second-seeded Mid-Continent University improved its final season record to 24-13 and brings home the third-place trophy from the National Christian College Athletics Association (NCCAA) National Tournament in Oakland City, Indiana by virtue of its 85-70 victory over Grace College from Winona Lake, Indiana (17-16), Saturday, March 20. Omaha jumped to a 2-0 first-period lead, then scored three power plays goals in the second period Saturday en route to a 5-2 United States Hockey League victory over the Sioux Falls Stampede. The teams combined for 49 penalties totaling 200 minutes before a crowd of 4,231 at Civic Auditorium. The Lancers had 12 scorers earn a point, and all five goals were scored by different players.
